Superstar actress Sharon Stone – heartbroken over several miscarriages – has adopted the 4-week-old child of a Texas schoolgirl.
The sexy blond star and her second hubby, San Francisco newspaperman Phil Bronstein, are the proud parents of a bouncing baby boy they’ve named Roan Joseph Bronstein.
“He’s my wonderful, precious little Buddha. He eats like a champion. He sleeps peacefully – and he’s the apple of his daddy’s eye,” Stone tells US Weekly in its new issue, out Friday.
But she says her blessed event briefly turned nightmarish when the infant was delivered several weeks prematurely at just 5 pounds, 6 ounces.
The 42-year-old star of “Basic Instinct” began thinking about adopting after her efforts to become pregnant resulted in a string of miscarriages.
In early spring, the couple hired an adoption lawyer who told them of a pregnant Texas teen and her boyfriend who decided they wanted the baby placed in a good home.
On May 22, Roan was born prematurely – but apparently healthy – and a week later, Stone and Bronstein jetted off to Texas on a private plane, packing diapers, rattles, bottles and blankets.
When they got the baby home to their nine-bedroom, Italian-style mansion in San Francisco, “we sat up and watched him breathe,” Stone recalls.
And she says she eagerly wakes up at night to change him, then comforts him on her lap while she reads movie scripts.
“Sharon’s constantly got his little feet in her mouth,” Stone’s best friend, Mimi Craven, says.
“She looks so right and happy holding him. I’ve seen him throw up on her from head to toe. One day, she was dressed in silk [when Roan vomited] and she couldn’t have been happier.”
The couple chose the baby’s first name, Roan, from the Irish word that means “seal,” a magical animal in mythology. His middle name, Joseph, is in tribute to Bronstein’s dad.
Bronstein – executive editor of the San Francisco Examiner who suffered a near-fatal heart attack last August – says the adoption has transformed him.
“It’s the best thing I’ve done in my life,” boasts the beaming 49-year-old dad, who’s on his third marriage.
The couple won’t say how much they paid the parents of the child, or whether the teens will have visitation rights. But they may consider adopting more kids.
