That’s some high praise.

The Cowboys owner made a rather bold statement after Dallas’ 45-10 win over the Commanders on Thanksgiving that included a show-stopping halftime performance from Dolly Parton and a historic fifth pick-six from cornerback DaRon Bland.

“I don’t know that I’ve had a day like this. And I’ll include them all, I’ll put Super Bowls in there, I don’t know if I’ve ever had a better day with the Cowboys than today,” Jones said after the game, according to ESPN’s Ed Werder.

Jones has owned the Cowboys since 1989 and to say that Thursday might be the greatest day in his 34-year ownership is certainly an eye-opening statement.

The Cowboys have won three championships under his watch – Super Bowls XXVII, XXVIII and XXX – and have been one of the most consistent franchises in the NFL.

Most folks wouldn’t compare a Super Bowl win to a regular-season victory, and perhaps the 81-year-old Jones was just enjoying the moment.

It’s clear though that Thursday could not have gone much better for Dallas.

Dallas improved to 8-3 with yet another blowout home win over an inferior opponent, highlighted by Bland securing his NFL-record fifth interception return for a touchdown.

Bland jumped in front of a fourth-quarter pass from Sam Howell to Jahan Dotson and wiggled past Howell before making two Commanders defenders miss on potential tackles to set the record and give the Cowboys a 45-10 lead with less than five minutes remaining.

“Seeing the ball, seeing the receiver run an out-route, I just had to go get it,” Bland said after the game. “All I seen was open field and I wasn’t going to be denied.”

But even Bland’s record day may have paled in comparison to the performance by the 77-year-old Parton, who wowed the crowd while dressed as a Cowboys cheerleader.

It certainly set the bar high for next year’s Thanksgiving game in Dallas – and even potential future Super Bowl titles.
